Welcome to “DIY’ Birthday Parties! On a budget! The idea is to be able to throw an awesome birthday party- without having to hire someone or break the bank!
Coming from a huge Disney family, this was one of the top parties I enjoyed planning. My daughter loves Minnie Mouse and I also ended up doing a Mickey Mouse party for my son as well. The colors just pop and I just loved shopping and exploring for different elements to add to the party. Where did I start? Pink, Black and White would be the colors and everything else will fall into place!
Cookie Decorating
My Favorite and a crowd favorite as well! This was my first cookie decorating party. It’s really simple to set up once you have everything- What you need: Table Cloth, Plates, Trays for Sprinkles, Little cups for Icing, popsicle sticks or knives (or something to spread the icing), different types of sprinkles- theme related of course- for this party I did pink, white, black, purple and rainbow. For icing colors I did Pink, Yellow and White. Each station also had a personalized bag to put their cookies in when they are done. I printed a “Decorate Kendall’s Cookies” sign and framed it in a black frame from the Dollar Tree! I like making homemade cookies and icing (recipes below) but you can also buy premade cookie dough and canned icing to save some time!

Sugar Cookie Recipe: The Best Cut Out Sugar Cookie Recipe | Wilton (I prefer to use Vanilla Extract instead of Almond – but that is a personal preference!)
A Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter can be used for a lot of special touches, in addition to the cookie decorating, I used it for the brownies and what would be a party without homemade glazed sugar cookies! When I purchased these off of Amazon, I got the set that had multiple sizes because it depended on what I was using it for. (also used for my son’s Mickey Mouse party!)
I know one thing- I am obsessed with the Disney font for signs! Disney Font – Disney Font Generator (fontmeme.com) I used this website- it was super easy- you just put in the name or word and it converts it for you! Then I just copy to a Microsoft Word or Powerpoint document to print.

Setting up for the Party
I got a life size Minnie Mouse doll– which was adorable for a photo op! I printed some signs “Welcome to Kendall’s Clubhouse” “Come inside its fun inside!” and printed some Minnie Mouse heads and scattered them around on tables.
Birthday Girls Outfit
I ordered her shirt off of Etsy and she also wore a Minnie Mouse Costume for a portion of the party.
Minnie Mouse Pinata
My mom makes the banners for all of my parties- she uses an Alphabet Punch Board. This way we only have to buy the paper for each party!
Cake
I am fortunate enough to have an amazing sister who has been making cakes for years! I usually find my inspiration on Pinterest and send it on over to her. She threw in some cupcakes with little black fondant ears, brownies with little chocolate pink bows, rice Krispie treats with little Oreos for ears, cake pops and glazed sugar cookies! YUMMY!

Don’t forget the adult favors! Everyone left with a bag of homemade ranch oysterettes with a cute little tag that said “Thanks for stopping by, see you real soon!”
