Oh “Two”dles: A Mickey Mouse Birthday Party
Welcome to “DIY” Birthday Parties! On a budget! The idea is to be able to throw an awesome birthday party- without having to hire someone or break the bank!
Well, my daughter had an Oh Twodles Minnie Mouse birthday Party so I had to do an Oh Twodles Mickey Mouse birthday Party for my son! Coming from a huge Disney family, this was one of the top parties I enjoyed planning. The colors just pop and I just loved shopping and exploring for different elements to add to the party. Where did I start? Red, Black and Yellow would be the colors and everything will fall into place!
I spent A LOT of time working on the favors for this one- I think the final kid headcount was around 30 for both boys and girls attending. My son’s birthday is in the summer, so an outdoor birthday party is a must! Which means the invite list is bigger than normal as well.
I know one thing- I am obsessed with the Disney font! I printed each kid’s name in this font to glue to their gift bag and they came out just perfect! Disney Font – Disney Font Generator (fontmeme.com) I used this website- it was super easy- you just put in the name or word and it converts it for you! Then I just copy it to a Microsoft Word or Powerpoint document to print.

A Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter can be used for lots of special touches- I used it for cutting out fruit, the cheese for the cheese and crackers, brownies and what would be a party without homemade sugar cookies! When I purchased these off of Amazon, I got the set that had multiple sizes because it depended on what I was using it for.
Setting up for the Birthday party:
I got a birthday Mickey Mouse blow up- with Mickey wearing a birthday hat! It was smaller than anticipated but it was adorable for a photo op! I kept most of the decorating basic with a balloon arch and black table clothes from the dollar tree.
My mom makes the banners for all of my parties- she uses an Alphabet Punch Board. This way we only have to buy the paper for each party!
Cake-
I am fortunate enough to have an amazing sister who has been making cakes for years! I find my inspiration usually on Pinterest and send it over. I ordered a Mickey Mouse Hat off of Amazon and let my sister go to work- it came out perfect! (And very similar to my daughter’s Minnie cake!) She threw in some cupcakes, brownies, and marshmallow pops as well! YUMMY!
Lollipops! Chocolate Lollipops are one of my favorite favors to give to the kids to take home! What you need to make:
- Number Chocolate Mold
- Chocolate Melts- Depending on Color
- Sticks and Clear Bags
- Decorative Option – this one I used mini Mickey Mouses (linked below)
- Ribbon
Don’t forget the adult favors! Everyone left with a bag of homemade ranch oysterettes with a cute little tag that said “Thanks for stopping by, see you real soon!”
