Aged 40 Years: A Wine Themed Birthday Party

Hello and Welcome to “DIY” Birthday Parties! On a budget! The idea is to be able to throw an awesome Wine Themed Birthday Party- without having to hire someone or break the bank!
Adult’s parties can be thrown on a budget! Turning 40 is hard enough, so when my friends and I knew we were doing a nice dinner for a friend’s birthday, we knew we didn’t want to do anything too crazy- like a birthday sash or “fabulous forty” theme. Just something simple and of course wine related!

Onto the party planning! The preparation for this wine party included basically one trip to the Dollar Tree to pick up all the glasses and frames, Hobby Lobby for the wooden numbers 4 and 0, Amazon for the sugar cookie supplies and a trip to the liquor store!

The little frames were from the dollar tree as well and they matched the theme perfectly- with a similar color to cork!

To make the wine cork “40”, I purchased the numbers from Hobby Lobby and the wine corks off of Amazon (In addition to the ones I’ve collected over time) It was fairly simple to glue the corks to the number- I used tacky glue. It dries clear which is nice, so put A LOT of glue on each piece and surrounding the bottom of the cork.
I created the tag template in CANVA- Free Template HERE – I copied it into Powerpoint on a tag pattern and printed at home- black and white and a thicker card stock paper. I cut it out and used a hole puncher to put the twine threw and tied into a bow

My mom made the sugar cookies using a wine shaped cookie cutter. The icing is simply confectionary sugar and water. I asked for pink and red to represent rose and red wine. I thought about doing a light yellow as well for a white wine, but decided to keep it simple with the two! I put 1 of each in a clear bag, with the tag and they came out perfect! At the restaurant I put one on each plate.

My sister tried to match the same font as the tags to Cricut onto the birthday girls’ glass- but with the letters being so thin, it was a difficult task. I originally wanted to Cricut all the glasses- but one special one for the birthday girl was enough!

These whisky glasses I got from the Dollar Tree! The men got the whisky and the women got the wine- but of course at dinner there was some switching of drinks based on preference haha.

All in all, it was a simple party but little touches made it special! And the cookies were delicious too! Especially after a night of drinking!
