Twinkle Little Star Birthday Party
Welcome to “DIY” Birthday Parties! On a budget! The idea is to be able to throw an awesome party – without having to hire someone or break the bank! This is a throwback to my daughter’s 1st birthday party and probably one of the 1st parties I had! We celebrated the first year of our little star, with a dazzling “Twinkle Little Star” themed party.
Decorations:
To create a starry atmosphere, transform your party space into a sparkling wonderland. Hang shimmering silver and gold star-shaped balloons from the ceiling, and adorn the walls with twinkling fairy lights. Scatter glittery confetti stars on the tables and sprinkle them on the floor to add an extra touch of magic.
I framed my daughter’s 12-month-old pictures in gold frames from the Dollar Tree. I just loved her monthly pictures with the different colored tutus!
I put a couple of these white light up stars throughout the venue along with some gold battery operating tea lights I got at the Dollar Tree! I also cut out stars out of construction paper to make and hang some homemade banners!
Cake and Desserts:
No birthday party is complete without a show-stopping cake. My sister made a 2-tier cake with pink rossettes and some gold stars and cake topper. Accompany the cake with a variety of star-themed desserts, such as star-shaped sugar cookies, cupcakes, and homemade lollipops topped with edible golden stars.
Mimosa Bar:
“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star… Please enjoy the Mimosa Bar”
While the little one may not be indulging in mimosas just yet, create a delightful mimosa bar for the adults to enjoy. Offer a variety of fruit juices, such as orange, lemonade, and cranberry, alongside chilled champagne, or sparkling water. Provide an array of fresh fruit garnishes, like strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, for guests to add a colorful twist to their mimosas. Don’t forget to offer non-alcoholic sparkling beverages as well, ensuring everyone can join in the celebratory toasts!
My mom uses the below Alphabet Punch Board to make all the letters for the banner- for every party we have actually!

Homemade Chocolate #1 Lollipops:
No birthday celebration is complete without delectable treats! Make your own chocolate #1 lollipops using the #1 and star-shaped molds. Melt high-quality chocolate and pour it into the molds, ensuring they are completely filled. I did pink (candy melts) #1’s with white stars with edible gold glitter. Add popsicle sticks and refrigerate until the chocolate sets. Once ready, carefully remove the lollipops from the molds and wrap them in clear cellophane tied with a ribbon. These sweet treats will not only add a touch of personalization but also serve as adorable party favors for guests to take home.
Star-shaped Food Delights:
Get creative with the food by using star-shaped cookie cutters to make the menu even more celestial. Serve sandwiches, cheese and crackers and even fruit skewers cut into star shapes. These bite-sized delights will surely delight both children and adults alike.
Twinkle Little Star’s first birthday party was a celestial celebration filled with love, laughter, and lots of starry surprises. From the dazzling decorations to the scrumptious treats and engaging activities, every detail added to the enchantment of the day. The mimosa bar provided a touch of elegance for the adults, while the homemade chocolate #1 lollipops delighted young and old alike. The star-shaped food cutouts added whimsy to the menu, and the activities and entertainment kept the little ones engaged throughout the event. The cake and desserts were not only visually stunning but also delicious, leaving everyone with a sweet taste of joy. As the guests departed, they took home party favors, serving as a token of appreciation for their presence and making their own little stars shine. This first birthday party truly celebrated the preciousness of this little star, leaving lasting memories for all who attended.
